George Lynch Furious George |
Released 2004 International Orders: |
Ex-Dokken guitarist George Lynch lets rip guitar wise on a set of varied covers, helped by ex-MSG/Baton Rogue vocalist Kelly Keeling, ex-Racer X drummer Jeff Martin, bassist Gunter Nezhoda and rhythm guitarist Kevin Curry. For guitar fans there is much to enjoy as George Lynch retains the original guitar solos but adds a modern touch here and there plus some of his own stylings. Of course with Kelly Keeling you've also got an accomplished vocalist (just check out `Space Station #5', the old Montrose classic - Sammy Hagar eat your heart out!). Guitar wise `You Shook Me' shows Lynch's blues side and `Stormbringer' will have all Deep Purple fans in a frenzy. A very enjoyable set of covers, which will please many and provides an ample showcase for not only George Lynch's talents but also Kelly Keeling. Some may hanker after new material but these covers albums are an interesting reference point for an artist's influences and musical roots. |

Rolling With My Baby One of heavy metal’s most quoted, controversial, and stylistic lead singers, Kevin Dubrow, turns in a riveting set of classic rock tunes as the foundation for his first solo record entitled, "In For The Kill." "In For The Kill" is a collection of covers that are imbued with the rock and roll spirit that inspired Dubrow to want to live the rock and roll life and create high energy music. The material on the record is powerful and timeless and is culled from the repertoires of some of the greatest 70’s acts of all time, including T. Rex, Queen, DeepPurple, Montrose, The Sweet, Humble Pie, Mott the Hoople and Nazareth. In For The Kill is the ultimate Dubrow solo album as the songs have that powerful, yet memorable, quality that brings to mind Quiet Riot in their prime while still exhibiting contemporary hard rock influences as well. |

Michael Schenker |
Released 2004 International Orders: |
A Summit is a melding of musical super powers - in this case, German mad axeman Michael Schenker and vocalist Davey Pattison. On drums, Schenker/Pattison enlisted help from one of rock's most well known drummers, Aynsley Dunbar (UFO, Journey, Starship, Whitesnake) before rounding out the line-up with power bassist Gunter Nezhoda (Pat Travers, Leslie West). Aptly titled The Endless Jam, this CD contains extended versions of classic Gamma, Trower, Montrose, Traffic and Free songs (and others) which showcase Schenker and Pattison at the top of their game. If you've always wondered what an extended, blistering solo would sound like on "A Whiter Shade Of Pale", if you've wondered what Schenker and Leslie West would sound like trading solos ("Never In My Life"), or if you want to experience the bluesiest Schenker yet recorded - The Endless Jam is your disc. Hard Rock, total running time, 59:00 |
